Marla Custom Blinds Provide Stylish Shade for Winchester Golfers

Refurbishment contractor Themescene Ltd contacted Marla Custom Blinds on 10th October 2017 regarding the manufacture and installation of sixteen 24v remotely controlled motorised roller blinds for The Royal Winchester Golf Club. They wanted to assess our capability to meet both their client’s specific requirements and a short installation window that would be available once 2 sets of bi-fold doors had been fitted.

Specifically
• The blinds must be able to cut out glare from low sun during the winter and spring months across the entire 21.5 metres west elevation of the club’s bar and restaurant areas
• All blinds to be controllable from two hand held remotes, one for the bar area and one for the restaurant area, and all electrics had to be concealed in the ceiling void
• Both the bar and restaurant installations included Bi-fold doors onto the terrace overlooking the golf course, so the blinds had to be recessed into the soffit to prevent snagging when the doors were opened

The Challenge
Despite having been approached in October, the new bi-fold doors were not fitted until late January, which meant that we couldn’t take final measurements until 1st February. This left us only seven days to manufacture, check, and install all sixteen blinds and their operating mechanisms before the project was due to be handed over to the client on February 9th.
Because we have our own manufacturing facility in Fareham as well as a dedicated in-house team of expert installers this tight timescale did not prove a problem and as usual, we delivered the project on time and on budget, much to the delight of Themescene Ltd and The Royal Winchester Golf Club.
